why are you so cheap?
I’ve thought a lot about my pricing over the years but in the end simplicity won. My charging rate is comparatively low because I believe that my work should be accessible to all, no matter their income. If you feel called to work with me, money should not stand in the way. You should be able to work with me and still put food on your table.
There is no industry pricing standard, so prices are totally arbitrary. My colleagues may charge more, in some cases a lot more, because they feel that is what they are worth. Their reasoning for charging higher rates may include their education, work experience, life experience and most likely their standard of living.
I also know from lived experience that the amount you’re charged doesn’t necessarily reflect knowledge, skill or outcome. Just because something costs hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of pounds, doesn’t mean that you gain the best outcome. Believe me, I have been there and got the t-shirt.
For me, working with you is a privilege.
